CAG meeting, May 5, 1999

COLLECTIONS ADVISORY GROUP
Minutes: Wednesday, May 5, 1999

Present: B. Weil (chair), S. Calpestri, C. Delgado, D. Fortner, K.
Fromberg, B. Kornstein, L. Leighton, J. Roberts (recorder), M. Ternberg,
C. Wanat

1. The minutes of the related meetings on April 4, 14 and 21, all
heroically prepared by Milt Ternberg, were approved.

2. The chair announced that CAG's recommendations for the distribution of
the additional collections funding had been approved by J. Lowell and were
being forwarded to the Senate Library Committee. C. Wanat reported that
the Binding Task Force had met once: the issue of binding will be taken up
at the next CAG meeting on June 2.

3. Most of the meeting was devoted to planning for a selector Early Bird,
to be held if possible on May 26. Gail Ford has been working on a
collections allocations spreadsheet, which may be ready for presentation
at that time. Michael Rancer will be asked to talk about the problems
with the Berkeley Financial System and Gail about the statistics she has
been gathering on interlibrary borrowing. It is particularly important
that selectors understand that the additional money about to be
distributed will be one-time funding and cannot be used for continuing
commitments.
