3. CD-ROM Statistics:
· A spread sheet entitled, "Networked CD-ROMS/fy 1997/98" was prepared for
CAG by Gail Ford. CAG would like Resource Groups to evaluate the
statistics and determine any changes to be made to CD Towers. These
changes should be sent directly to Systems (Angeline Lok). CAG encourages
selectors to update web pages that contain information about CD-ROMs, to
make sure it is current.
4. Electronic Resources Management:
· CAG discussed the current oversight of electronic resources management
in The Library and concluded that we need additional positions to fill in
various gaps that have been identified in two documents authored by
Rebecca Green, Order Division, and Katie Frohmberg, i.e., financial
agreements, negotiation of contracts, workflow, technical support, etc.
CAG also identified various other areas not relating to electronic
resources that needed to be better managed, such as liaison with CDL,
monitoring of vendor performance, UCB presence nationally at
acquistion-related conferences, etc. Various new positions were
identified-AUL Collections; Assistant to AUL Collections; Acquisitions
Librarian; Electronic Services Librarian; Electronic Services Library
Assistant. The group discussed various models that might be useful to UL
Lowell in determining a possible new administrative structure for these
areas. The two models that looked most desirable were: 1) AUL
Collections, Assistant to AUL Collections and Electronic Services
Librarian combined, Electronic Services Library Assistant and 2) AUL
Collections, Acquistions Librarian and Electronic Services Librarian
combined, Electronic Services Library Assistant.
