Unit-Specific Check-in Responsibilities
CENTRALLY-RECEIVED TITLES
- The central receiving units perform the INNOPAC check-in and insert a
green flag in the piece if there is a LOCAL NOTE in the INNOPAC record.
- Based on the LABEL TYPE, the central units may either print a label or
affix an Avery sticker to the piece to indicate the location. See LABEL
PRINTING for further information on label-printing, label placement,
and other marking procedures in the central processing units.
- If a green flag was inserted in the piece, the subject specialty library
checks the LOCAL NOTE field in Innopac for further instructions.
- If there is no green flag, the material should be "shelf-ready".
- Subject specialty libraries are strongly discouraged from performing
duplicative check-in of centrally received titles.
TITLES CHANGING RECEIVING LOCATION (RLOC)
A CHECK NOTE will have information regarding the address change from Location
1 to Location 2.
Before the address change takes effect, the mailing label will still be
addressed to Location 1.
- The RLOC of Location 1 continues to be listed in field 7 of the check-in
record.
- Location 1 continues to perform check-in for this title, following standard
procedures.
When the first piece is received with the address of Location 2 on the
mailing label:
- Location 2 changes the RLOC from Location 1 to Location 2 in field 7
of the check-in record.
- Location 2 deletes the CHECK NOTE that mentioned the RLOC change.
- Location 2 performs check-in for this title, following standard procedures.
For information regarding claiming responsibilities for titles changing
receiving location, see the BPM Serials Manual section on Claiming.
