TRANSFERS - MONOGRAPHS Revised: May 1997
This process should involve items that already received some form of cataloging or call number, including TCP call numbers. For items that have not previously been cataloged or given a TCP call number see BPM section on Request to Catalog Monographs.
TRANSFERS OF MONOGRAPHS TO MAIN STACKS:
Complete a Transfer Request Form or annotate a printout of the GLADIS record and insert in book. Transferring unit will process the transfer. If item has an f, r, t, or b level GLADIS record, to complete the process see the GLADIS Maintenance Manual section on Monographs, Transfer of Monographs Between Units. If the item is not an f, r, t or b level GLADIS record, the transferring unit will route the item with the transfer request or annotated printout to the Technical Services Department, Retrospective Conversion Unit.
TRANSFERS OF MONOGRAPHS FROM MAIN STACKS:
Complete a Transfer Request Form or annotate a printout of the GLADIS record, insert in book, and route to the Stack Manager, Main Circulation. If item has an f, r, t, or b level GLADIS record, Main Circulation will complete the transfer process. If the item has a TCP d level GLADIS record, Main Circulation will process the transfer and route for cataloging to the Technical Services Department, Copy Cataloging Division. If item has no GLADIS record, Main Circulation will process the transfer and route to the Technical Services Department, Retrospective Conversion Unit.
TRANSFERS OF MONOGRAPHS BETWEEN UNITS:
The selectors in the two units should agree to the transfer. If the transfer is occurring between units from two different departments, both department heads must approve the transfer.
Transfers between units will be processed by the transferring unit. For the procedure see the GLADIS Maintenance Manual procedure for Monographs, Transfer of Monographs Between Units.
If there is no f, r, t or b level record in GLADIS, route the item with the transfer request to the Technical Services Department, Retrospective Conversion Unit.
