CHARGING MATERIAL ROUTED TO CENTRAL TECHNICAL SERVICES     Revised: September 1999

Using GLADIS maintenance or Autocirc (if appropriate), units should charge items routed to Central Technical Services (Catalog or Conservation Departments) for binding treatment and bibliographic record corrections or creations.  Examples would be it ems sent for mending or rebinding, new serials sent for binding,  items sent to the Catalog Department at the request of a cataloger,  for record correction or items sent for analytic cataloging.
See BPM Section on Request to Catalog Monographs for keying records and charging items routed for new cataloging, except analytics.
Following are the charge periods to be used:

BINDRUSH, rush new binding (no recalls)

2 months: M2

Individual volumes of serials routed for analytic cataloging should have the charge entered into the serial record.  If an item is being routed for binding treatment before cataloging or will be bound at a later point, the unit may wish to use the piggyback bar code, which can be affixed to the verso of the title page, and after binding be transferred to the inside back cover of an item.
The Catalog Department has elected to assign individual institutional patron ID's for all original catalogers; for copy catalogers, individual ID's have been assigned only to those who most frequently get material from public service units.  If there is any doubt who should receive material in the Catalog Department, it should be charged and sent to Tonette Mendoza. Branches may set longer due dates for materials such as government documents which often take longer than two months to be cataloged.
No individual ID'S have been assigned to the Conservation Department. The Central Technical Services institutional patron ID'S are listed below:
