1. Announcements:
Jean Dickinson has been selected as the new Slavic cataloger, and a new
cataloger for Middle-Eastern materials will be starting in November.
2. Shared Cataloging Program Early Bird, Carole McEwan
Carole announced that a Shared Cataloging Program Early Bird is scheduled
for Thursday October 20 from 8:30-10 in the Morrison Library. Program
staff from UCSD will be at UCB all day making presentations. The morning
early bird will present a program overview. In the afternoon, special
sessions focusing on Technical Services issues will occur.
Carole detailed the impending program developments such as the planned tape
loads of over 200,000 monographic records. She will be polling staff for
input on display options as they are developed and refined, and she
listened to concerns and answered questions.
3. Collections Council Selector Template, John Roberts for David Sullivan
John provided background information on the development of the form. After
general discussion on the intended audience for the information, how the
information would be used and/or shared, and on the best format for
providing the requested information (narrative or standardized form),
clarification was requested on a few points. John will forward them on.
4. Function Council reports:

Administrative Services Council, John Ceballos: minutes available on the
web include information from Susan Wong regarding 2005-06 Salary Program
for Career Employees Covered by PPSM
WAG, Susan Koskinen: Library home page minor redesign is
underway. Mockups of proposed revisions will be sent out for general
comment. A plan to password-protect sections of the staff website is under
consideration.
Next meeting is Thursday Nov. 3. Tim Dennis and Harrison Dekker will
demonstrate RSS feeds and Wikies. For the Dec. 1 meeting Michaelyn Burnette
will demonstrate ECCO.
