1. Library’s budget proposal to the EVCP
Most council members reported that they had attended the recent Early Bird on the budget. T. Leonard and M. Rancer will meet with EVCP Breslauer in May to review the Library’s budget request. Campus budget distribution will occur in late summer/early fall.
2. Upcoming construction impacts from the Doe Annex Project
Major construction will take place this summer (May 21-Aug. 5) in Doe, resulting in the closing of the north-south annex hallways on the first and second floors of Doe adjacent to the Annex. Floors, lights, and paint will be redone. Most patron access will need to be rerouted to the north side of the building; however the security desk and far left south side entrance door will remain in place to allow access to LHRD, Development, Systems and SSEALS. Some staff may be relocated, and access to office spaces and bathrooms will be rerouted. InterLibrary Services’ public desk will move to 105 Doe for the duration of this phase of the project. Bike parking for staff will be temporarily relocated outside in a fenced area while the light court windows are replaced. Work will take place 18 hours a day with the noisiest work being done during non-business hours. An Early Bird for Doe staff (and any others interested) will be held May 3.
3. HR news related to recent union contract negotiations
S. Wong updated the council on the Systemwide package to increase wages for lower-paid staff. About 90 library employees are affected. An agreement has been reached with CUE, while negotiations are continuing with AFSME and UPTE.
