(SAN FRANCISCO, 1883) Incorrectly transcribed by
H. H. Bancroft's stenographer as Kwong Ki-Chiu, and on title page further corrupted
to Kwong Ki Chin; an interview at the Bancroft Library January 9, 1883, by H.
H. Bancroft. Account of his early life in China; to the U.S. in 1874 as guardian
for Chinese students; secretary and translator of the Chinese Dictionary Commission.
Comments on his publications; English schools in China; Chinese consuls and legations
in the United States and elsewhere; Chinese emigration to the U.S. BANC
