The
library offers a convenient way to manage the books checked out to you.
Using the Inventory
and renewals step by step
2. At the Enter choice> prompt, type gladis and Enter, then press Enter again at the next screen. 3. To see what's checked out to you, type inv, then a space and your patron ID number. If you have been issued a library card, this will the the barcode on the back of your card. If you are a student, faculty, or staff member, it will be the number on your photo ID card. You'll be prompted for your four-digit PIN, which is your birthday month and day (MMDD). (Add leading zeros for single digits; e.g., June 9 = 0609.) 4. The inventory screen will show you the titles of the items checked out to you, from which library, and when they are due. Any item that is waiting for you to pick up will appear at the beginning of the list. These include books you have recalled from other borrowers and books that have been found after you placed a search on them. However, the inventory screen will not show you the status of any item you have recalled that has not yet been turned in. You will need to look up each of those titles individually by author, title, or call number. 5. You can renew items by typing ren, a space, and the line number at the left of the screen. You must renew items one by one. 6. When you're done renewing or viewing your inventory, type f to clear the screen. What can and can't be renewed online Most items can be renewed online. However, you cannot renew short-term books, including all 2-hour and same-day books. Those must be renewed in person. 1-day and all long-term books can be renewed online or by phone. You cannot renew recalled items, as someone else is waiting for them, and you must return them by the recall due date. However, you can place a recall yourself at the time you return the items, so that other borrower will need to return them within a week. Overdue books may be renewed online, but only if they have not caused a block on your borrowing privileges. If you are being blocked, or if you have been billed for the replacement of the overdue items, you must return them before you can renew anything online. All blocked or billed items must be returned to their respective libraries before you can check out or renew any other items. If you have questions or problems checking your inventory or renewing items, call the Social Welfare Library at (510) 642-4432. |
