The public computers in the library are dedicated to library catalogs and indexes. Office applications, such as word processing and spreadsheet applications, are not available. Outlets for laptop computers and other electronics are located under the tables in the reading room (see the green objects on the library floorplan). Currently, there are no hardwired internet connections at the reading room tables. On-line library resources are accessible from any campus computer. Computer labs are located around the campus, and there is a Haviland Hall computer lab for social welfare and public health students. On-line resources include Melvyl, Pathfinder, and electronic indexes and abstracts. AirBears wireless access is available in Haviland Hall. To use the library electronic resources from off campus, you need to connect to the campus computing system through the Subscription Home IP service. If you have a private internet service provider, you will need to connect through the library's proxy service. You can find additional information at Computers in the Libraries. |
