The Staff Development Committee is pleased to announce that it is sponsoring a field trip to the Oakland Museum of California next Friday, June 9th. The OMCA features a multidisciplinary collection of art, history, and natural sciences with the goal to "inspire all Californians to create a more vibrant future for themselves and their communities."
At 3:00pm, our group will tour the three core collections, a highlight of the 1.9 million objects that make up the OMCA, to learn about the collection's history and organization. You may learn more about the museum here.
We also invite staff to stay after the tour to enjoy Friday Nights at OMCA, which showcases the work of local artists and features live music and food trucks.
The tour is free to 35 library staff members; attendees must pay for their own transportation to Oakland (and anything you want from the food trucks). The museum is conveniently located just two blocks from the Lake Merritt BART Station, only $1.95 one-way from the Downtown Berkeley station.
Attendees must have their supervisor's permission to go on the trip.
