The Mechanics' Institute is a membership organization founded in 1854 with a mission to "serve the education, information and social needs of the city's mechanics, artisans, and industrialists."

January 12th Trans: Gender Identity Inclusion Workshop

The Trans: Gender Identity Inclusion Workshop for the Library, co-sponsored by LAUC-B Committee on Diversity and Staff Development Committee, was held on Jan. 12, 2017. This engaging, thought-provoking workshop covered foundational concepts and critical information about gender identity and trans-related issues and was led by Marisa (Mac) Boyce from the Gender Equity Resource Center. Nearly 40 people attended.
