I. Changes to PubMed
The look and functions of PubMed have changed. Limits, History, Clipboard, etc. now appear as tabs, not as links in the Features Bar. Also, when you run a search, you will now see your results categorized. The three default categories are All, English, and Human. Thus, you will be able to see all of your search results that are in the English language, for example. You can customize this feature, so that tabs appear for any of several categories, including age ranges, other languages, subsets, publication types, etc.
In addition, Cubby is no longer, and is replaced by "My NCBI." Using this feature will let you save searches and have the results automatically e-mailed to you as whatever frequency is convenient to you.
Finally, the default name for files created using the Send to File feature is pubmed-result.txt. This change will alleviate difficulties users experienced with the old .fcgi extension.
Details about the new look of PubMed may be found at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/jf05/jf05_myncbi.html and at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/jf05/jf05_tabs.html.
II. Changes to CSA Databases
The interface for all Cambridges Scientific Abstracts (CSA) databases has changed. CSA databases include PsycINFO, Sociological Abstracts, Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts, Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management, ERIC, International Bibliography of the Social Sciences, NTIS, PAIS International, and more. Help, tutorials, and detailed information is at http://www.csa.com/help/index.html.
