I. Public Health Library Head Receives Excellence in Management Award

Debbie Jan, Head of the Public Health Library, received an Excellence in Management award from the Berkeley Satff Assembly. A ceremeony took place on May 17, 2004 some photos may be seen on the BSA web site. Debbie was nominated for this award by Public Health Library staff. From the nominating letter:

"She takes action to respond to crises, fosters open communication, understands and appreciates the unique contributions of each staff member, facilitates participatory decision-making, encourages individual career development, and creates a positive work environment."

II. Staff Changes at Public Health Library

After several years at the Public Health Library, Nick Robinson has moved to a new appointment at the Institute of Governmental Studies Library. Nick was our Outreach and Instruction Librarian, and most recently also served as the Assistant Head. Another librarian on our staff, Michael Sholinbeck, will be taking over many of the outreach and instructional activities that were Nick's responsibilities.

III. Summer Classes on EndNote, Finding Articles, and more

The UCB Teaching Library is offering summer classes on Endnote, Finding Articles, LexisNexis and other News Sources, Web Searching, and more. All classes are drop-in; no sign-up is necessary. Schedules and information are on the Teaching Library's web site.
