No sign ups are necessary. The classes will meet in the seminar room just inside the Bioscience and Natural Resources Library.
Introduction to PubMed
PubMed, from the National Library of Medicine, is now our primary mode of access to
MEDLINE. This class will discuss specifying indexes, and combining and refining
search strategies and exporting to Endnote. There will be opportunities to use your
search criteria in searches.
Monday April 7th 12pm-1pmBIOSIS
BIOSIS is the most comprehensive biological sciences database. The session will cover
techniques for searching and efficiently using BIOSIS through the OVID interface.
Methods for downloading citations to import into Endnote will be included as well.
Friday April 11th 12pm-1pmRefWorks
A free web-based bibliographic management system. The session will cover importing
references from science databases, managing the personal database, and formatting
bibliographies in various styles.
Tuesday April 15th 12pm-1:30pmElectronic Resources In Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources
Specific databases (including ASFA, Environmental Sciences and Pollution
Management, and BIOSIS) and relevant web sites.
