The subheading ETHNOLOGY is added to a geographic term for place of origin of people living outside their native land. For example, for articles on immigrants from Asia, enter "Asia/ethnology" AND "United States." A health term may also be added, e.g. "Asia/ethnology AND United States AND asthma." The subheading ETHNOLOGY is also used with disease and health behavior terms including "Alcohol Drinking", "Aging", "Attitude to health", "Food Habits", "Smoking" to denote ethnic, cultural, or racial aspects.
UC and UCB patrons may have access to full text electronic versions of some of these journals. See the Public Health Library's List of Currently Received Print Journals for information.
To find other books or journals, search the library catalog in either the title or keyword field, unless you know the Library of Congress Subject Heading for the subject you are researching. Subject headings frequently differ from commonly used terms. For example, to find works on Native Americans,
you would have to search using the subject term "Indians of North America" - if you
didn't know this subject heading, you would have better luck searching for Title words "Native Americans health" and then looking at the subject headings assigned to appropriate works to then do a subject search.
