Dissertations and Theses (Dissertation Abstracts) (1861 - current)
Note: Access limited to UCB faculty, staff, and students.
Indexes graduate dissertations from over 1,000 North American, and selected European, graduate schools and universities. Dissertations published since 1980, and master's theses since 1988, include brief abstracts written by the authors. Offers full text of most of the dissertations added since 1997. Some of the complete text of earlier dissertations can be purchased from this site, or may be obtained by using Interlibrary Borrowing Service.

Dissertations and Theses @ University of California (UC Dissertations)
Note: Access limited to UCB faculty, staff, and students.
A subset of Dissertations and Theses, above. Nearly all of the University of California dissertations filed since 1996 are available full-text (large PDF files). Citations are provided for UC dissertations filed prior to 1996.

UCB-UCSF Joint Medical Program Thesis Index
Provides access to citations of Joint Medical Program theses filed after 1985. Index is browseable in alphabetical order by author or is searchable by author, title, subject, and date. Abstracts and full text of theses are not available through this index. Information on locating specific theses is provided.

DART-Europe E-theses Portal
The DART-Europe E-theses Portal provides access to hundreds of thousands of theses and dissertations from over 26 European countries. DART-Europe can be searched by keyword, university, collection, country, or year, with the oldest from 1597. DART-Europe is the European Working Group of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) and is endorsed by LIBER (Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche).

Foreign Dissertations Search (CRL)
Note: Access limited to UCB faculty, staff, and students.
Provides access to doctoral dissertations from around the world which have been submitted to institutions outside of the U.S. and Canada. Allows limiting to specific languages. Has many pertaining to the field of public health.

Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD)
Provides access to a union catalog/portal of more than 1 million records of electronic theses and dissertations from around the world. Search by many means, including full text, keyword, title, author, language, and date. Many of the dissertations and theses are of interest to public health researchers.

Finding UCB School of Public Health Dissertations that are in the Library

Using OskiCat or Melvyl:

Dissertations have been catalogued using various subject terms. To find these dissertations, enter one or more of the following as a "Subject Begins with" (OskiCat) or "Subject" (Melvyl; use Advanced Search) search:

University of California, Berkeley. Group in Environmental Health Sciences Dissertations

Click the Advanced Keyword Search link or tab, and enter the following:
Subject = University of California Berkeley public health
Notes = master* (adding the * searches for both "master" and "masters")

Online access to nearly all UCB Dissertations (not Master's Theses, however) is available via Dissertations and Theses @ University of California, above.
