You can find more information on all the retiring databases including
information on how to access the vendor versions of these databases on the
Detailed Status of the Journal Article Databases Transition chart at
http://www.cdlib.org/news/databasestatus.html.

II. NRLF request expands

Beginning December 1, 2002 UCB borrowers can request to have articles in
journals or chapters in books that are stored at NRLF delivered directly to
their computer as PDF files accessible on a library server or as a photocopy
delivered to a campus library.

If you search for a title in Pathfinder and find that the volume you want is
stored at NRLF you can request that the article, chapter or section you want
be delivered directly to you desktop. If you choose electronic delivery,
you will be sent an e-mail message with the URL where the request is located
and a password with which you can access it. You can then print or download
the requested item. Articles will be available on the web for thirty days.
You can still request to have the bound volume delivered to the location you
choose.

There is a limit of thirty-five pages or less per article or chapter and no
more than five articles per day. NRLF provides photocopies and electronic
copies in strict compliance with the copyright laws.

Follow these easy steps:

1. In a Pathfinder record, click on the oval NRLF button.
2. Follow the instructions for logging on.
3. Verify your personal information.
4. Fill out the journal information including the article title and author
and pages.
5. Fill out the delivery information including a delivery location, if
appropriate.
Click the submit button and you are done.

III. UC Press now online

The CDL has released the first 500 University of California
Press eScholarship Editions http://www.escholarship.cdlib.org/ucpress/.
Three hundred of the titles, many of which are out of print, are now
available to the public; the rest are restricted to University of
California faculty, staff, and students only.

Although the eScholarship website is the best place to find the most
uptodate list of titles available, you can also find the url for each
available title in MELVYL, or browse the whole collection by entering
"University Of California Press escholarship" as a title word search in
MELVYL. Books cover a range of topics in the humanities, social sciences,
and sciences; quite a few are currently used in courses.
