         Placing Items on Reserve (Instructors)

      bSpace, the UC Berkeley collaborative learning environment, can be used for electronic course reserves.
  • Go to the bSpace website at bspace.berkeley.edu/
  • Log in with your CalNet ID.
  • Click to open the appropriate folder for reserves materials for the course.

  • Permanent Reserve List.
      - these titles are always on reserve and available for check-out at the Circulation Desk. They are cataloged in OskiCat and listed under the Course Reserves tab, enter perm.

    Personal Copies & Photocopies: 
      The Library will place personal copies of books and articles on reserve.
    (NOTE: Due to copyright restrictions, the Library cannot make photocopies for you.) Unless these items are gifts to the Library, they will be returned at the close of each semester.

    Reserve Limit: 30 items per course, please use multiple forms for more than 10 items.
    Suggested Readings: send Required Readings.
    Number of Copies:
      We recommend 1 copy of each reserve item per 25 students in the class. If there is more than one class using the same title the Library will automatically designate it 2-hour IN-Library Use Only.
    Reserves Loan Policies & Periods: You may specify the loan period for each item - see below.
    Reserves are checked out as short term loans, Non-Renewal.
    Limit: 2 reserve items per borrower. Holds, recalls or renewals can not be placed on reserve items.

    2-hour reserves are subject to late fees of $2.50 per hour that the library is open, up to a maximum of $60 per item. Fines are automatically generated to the Patrons account.

    Unreturned materials are subject to billing for replacement at a minimum of $150 per item. Additional fees may apply.

      Reserves Loan Periods.
     
  • 2-hour Library Use Only: the material may be used for 2-hour period in the Library.
  • 2-hour Circulating: the material may be removed from the Library for 2 hours or overnight.
  • 1-Day Loan: the material may be charged out anytime for one-day
  • 7-day Loan: the material may be charged out anytime for one-day
  • NOTE: If no loan period is specified, the loan period will be 2-hours Outside Library Use.
  • NOTE: If the same item is on reserve for two classes, a shorter loan period will apply.
  • Requests can be sent anytime, we process reserves as soon as possible. If there are delays we will notify you.
