    Permanent Reserve List
      - titles are in the Physics-Astronomy Library available for check-out at the Circulation Desk.

    Personal Copies & Photocopies:

The Library will place personal copies of books and photocopies of articles on reserve.(NOTE: Due to copyright restrictions and staffing shortages, the Library cannot make photocopies for you.) Unless these items are gifts to the Library, they will be returned at the close of each semester. We call your attention to the following Library policy governing the making of photocopies:
The copyright law of the U.S. governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copy-righted material.  In accepting photocopies for reserves, the Library assumes  that the copy or copies have been made in compliance with the University of California Policy and Guidelines on the Reproduction of Copyrighted Materials for Teaching and Research (April 1986.)
See the University of California Copyright web site, particularly "Using Copyrighted Works," for more information about the fair use of copyrighted materials.

Reserve Limit: 30 items per course, please use multiple forms for more than 10 items.
Suggested Readings: Please restrict reserve requests to Required Readings Only.
    Number of Copies:
We recommend 1 copy of each reserve item per 25 students in the class. If there is more than one class using the same title the Library will automatically designate it 2-hour IN-Library Use Only.

Loan Periods: You may specify the loan period for each item - see below.

  • 2-hour Library Use Only: the material may be used for 2-hour period in the Library.
  • 2-hour Circulating: the material may be removed from the Library for 2 hours or overnight.
  • 1-Day Loan: the material may be charged out anytime for one-day.
  • NOTE: If no loan period is specified, the loan period will be 2-hours Outside Library Use.
  • NOTE: If the same item is on reserve for two classes, a shorter loan period will apply.

  • Additional Requests will be treated as new requests. Use the guidelines outlined above, they will be processed in order of receipt.
