Finding NRLF Numbers

While MELVYL and Pathfinder identify when material is housed at NRLF, they may not always display the NRLF barcode numbers, which are needed to locate material on the shelves. Use GLADIS (telnet) to locate the needed NRLF barcode numbers. The examples shown below illustrate how to tell if an items is at NRLF and what the NRLF barcode number is.

Example 1:

Book Title:

Newell, David McCheyne, 1898-
The fishing & hunting answer book. illus. by the author and Lynn
    Bogue Hunt. [1st ed.]
Garden City, N. Y., Doubleday, 1948.

The NRLF barcode number is $B 271 778. Supply this number when sending a request to NRLF.

Example 2:

This example illustrates how GLADIS displays a journal title. The volumes listed after the note Shelved at NRLF: are at NRLF.

Journal Title:

Ladies' home journal (Philadelphia, Pa.)
The ladies' home journal.
Philadelphia [etc.]

Library has: BOUND v.9:5(Apr 1892), 12:2-17:8, 18:11,
     19:11, 27:6-27:17, 28:2-28:15, v.29-32:1, 32:10-32:11,

To find the NRLF number, select one of the following options:

1. Enter the number of the volume you need by typing v 16. GLADIS will take you to the screen displaying the volume:

   v.15 (1897-98) NRLF #: A 2 503 332 BARCODE: B000355789

   If a journal (or series) title lists only the years (i.e., 1927) type v 1927; if numbers are listed instead of volumes (i.e., no. 78) type v 78.

2. Type det for a list that displays all volume information of the journal (or series) title. The unique NRLF barcode number for v.14 (1896-97) in the example above is A 2 503 331.
