- A discussion on sport in film. With the style of television sport aiming to be authentic, reliable, and complete, it is no wonder that the most likely audience for sports films has come to regard large-screen efforts with contempt. Problems arise from the need to have actors cast as sportsmen, as even the most accomplished film stars cannot hit or run to save their lives. Some films have had relative success, however, such as Personal Best, Cobb, and the documentary Hoop Dreams.
