	LIBRARY HUMAN RESOURCES MISSION STATEMENT
	The Library - 110 Doe Library University of California Berkeley, CA 94720-6000 Phone: (510) 642-3778 Fax: (510) 642-8675 E-mail: hrd@library.berkeley.edu The mission of the Library Human Resources Department is to provide our internal clients, both academic and staff, with comprehensive human resources services in the areas of recruitment, employment, compensations, benefits, employee relations a nd staff development in support of the Library and campus goals and programs. To achieve this mission we: Cooperate with other Library units to integrate effective human resources management into all Library operations; Cultivate the resources of our staff; emphasize opportunities, development, potential, openness to change. Assist Library administrators and managers in assuring that we are using our academic and staff resources for maximum benefits to all; Foster an environment that promotes a well trained, productive, informed and mutually cooperative workforce; Clarify and implement personnel policies and programs to support Library success; Assist Library Staff in achieving positive and effective problem resolution. Library Human Resources Department staff are available to assist Library employees with a wide range of services including benefits advice, counseling, and administrative processing assistance including health, dental, vision care, disability life insurance, retirement, tax deffered annuities, and loan programs; assistance with job classification, reassignment, rotation, promotion, compensation programs, internships; confidential referral to campus resources for personal counseling; career development advice and counsel; staff development services including information, scheduling re: a variety of training opportunities in the Library and on campus; consultation on interpretation of policies, procedures, bargaining agreements; maintenance of employment and leave benefit records. Information about Library employees' responsibilites, requirements, and rewards can easily be found in the Library Staff Handbook, Library Student Employee Handbook and in the Academic Personnel Manual.
