Travel Support to
Attend the LAUC Fall 2004 Assembly

WHAT
I am pleased to announce that I will sponsor, as LAUC President, at least four travel awards for members to attend the LAUC Fall Assembly, on November 4, 2004. The Fall Assembly will feature two substantive programs that address several important issues facing the community of academic librarians within the University, the University Libraries, and the profession at large. For this reason, LAUC is especially interested in attracting "newer" members to attend the Assembly. "Newer" librarians are, for the purposes of this award, LAUC members who have been appointed at the University for ten years or less.
At least two awards will be funded among the five southern campuses, and at least two from among the five northern campuses. Awards include the following support:
SOUTHERN TRAVEL AWARDS:
- Cost of roundtrip airfare, Southern California airports to Oakland or San Francisco International Airports
- Cost of roundtrip ground transport to the International House, UC Berkeley
- Cost of Lunch at the Assembly
NORTHERN TRAVEL AWARDS:
- Cost of roundtrip ground transport to the International House, UC Berkeley
- Cost of Lunch at the Assembly
HOW TO APPLY
LAUC members interested in applying for this travel support should write a brief (50-150 word) statement of interest and include a current curriculum vitae (brief format welcomed). There is no requirement for any followup reporting, although travelers would be welcome to publish remarks about their experience on the LAUC Web, if they wish to.
