Public Transportation Agencies

The Technology Transfer Program, part of the Institute of Transportation Studies, aims to connect transportation research, innovation and best practices to practitioners in the field. Providing access to information and services at the Institute of Transportation Studies Library is one method to achieve that goal.

Eligibility
Employees of California-serving public transportation agencies at the local, state and regional levels, including federal agencies located in-state, are eligible to receive specialized services from the Institute of Transportation Studies Library.*

Services

  • Free loans of training videos and CDs
  • Free loans of books and reports
  • Free photocopies of articles
  • Free material through Going, Going, Gone
  • Free reference assistance

Free loans of videos and CDs
More than 500 training videotapes and CD-ROMs are available on topics ranging from pavements to work zone safety to planning and policy. You can search or browse the database of multimedia resources.

Free loans of books and reports
Employees can borrow books and reports from the ITS Library’s extensive collection at no charge. Use the Melvyl catalog to identify material you wish to borrow, or contact Rita Evans or Kendra Levine at the library for assistance.

Free photocopies
The library will provide employees with up to 50 pages of photocopies of articles from journals, trade magazines or conference reports. Use the TRIS database or the Melvyl catalog to identify items of interest, or contact Rita Evans or Kendra Levine at the library for assistance.

Free material distributed through Going, Going, Gone
Duplicate reports, books, journals, manuals, CD/DVDs, pamphlets and other materials from government and private sources are available to local public agencies for free while supplies last. Browse the current inventory of excess materials and submit your request online.

Free reference assistance
If you are looking for information on a particular topic, contact by form or email Rita Evans, who will identify, locate and provide relevant material. Examples of topics of reference queries include:

  • Effective measures for work zone safety
  • Impact of slurry seals on pavement life
