Building Codes & Regulatory Resources

Building Codes & Regulatory Resources is a guide to locating building codes, especially for California and the San Francisco Bay Area, in the UC Berkeley libraries and on the Internet. Current codes are listed first, historical or older codes follow. For additional assistance please consult the Environmental Design Library reference staff, 210 Wurster Hall.

The regulatory environment for design and construction consists of building codes and standards covering local, state, federal, land use, and environmental regulations which are developed specifically for the purpose of regulating the life-safety, health and welfare of the public. Once adopted, building codes become law.
