1. New Melvyl®
On Friday, August 1, 2003, the California Digital Library will complete its transition to the new Melvyl catalog by retiring legacy Melvyl. The new Melvyl combines both the former Book Catalog and Periodicals Titles databases and contains records for the holdings of all the UC campuses. There are several advanced search features in the new interface and the Library has scheduled classes to familiarize you with them.
If you have been using the pull-down menu from legacy Melvyl to reach article databases, please switch to using the pull-down menu Choose an article index from our home page, or use the links from our article databases page.
If you had a Profile set up in legacy Melvyl for Updates, Saved Lists, or Search History features, your profile information and any data stored under it are no longer available. To resume using these features, you will need to set up a new profile in Melvyl by clicking the Sign In (optional) link at the top of the Melvyl page, and following the instructions. The "Sign In" link changes to a "My Workspace" link after you register and sign in.
2. Fall Reserves
Faculty will receive a letter in the next week or so soliciting titles of materials to be placed on reserve for Fall semester courses. Please watch for it in your e-mail, as paper copies will not be sent this year. If your lists are ready now, please send them along on the Reserves web form, , or drop them off in the Library.
3. Recommendations for Purchase
We welcome recommendations for items you'd like us to consider adding to the collections. Send them to any of the librarians, drop them off at the Library, or submit them via our Book Purchase Recommendation form.
