RefWorks Tips for Engineering Databases:
Importing from Melvyl

Single Citation

In Melvyl:

  1. Click into the record of the item you want to export.

  2. Click on the Cite/Export link.

  3. Click on Import to RefWorks.

  4. RefWorks will open in a new browser window or tab. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in before continuing. Once you are logged in, your references will be imported automatically. (You may need to allow popups in your browser).

Multiple Citations

In Melvyl:

  1. You must first register for a free account with WorldCat. Use the Sign in link at the top of the page to create your account.

  2. Sign in.

  3. Check the boxes next to the citations you want to import and save to an existing list, or create a new list.

  4. View your list by going to My WorldCat and My Lists.

  5. Open the list and click on the Citations View tab.

  6. Select the citations you want to import.

  7. Under Export selected citations, click on RefWorks.

  8. RefWorks will open in a new browser window or tab. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in before continuing. Once you are logged in, your references will be imported automatically. (You may need to allow popups in your browser).

You can download the Write-N-Cite application (for Windows or Mac) to make it easier to cite references and create bibliographies within papers. Use the One Line/Cite View option if you do not meet the compatibility requirements for Write-N-Cite.
