Circulation Services
To charge out materials, all borrowers must have either a curdrent UC Berkeley student photo ID card, or a current library card issued by the Doe/Moffitt Library Serice Desk. UC students, faculty and staff are given service priority and should be prepared to show UC campus identification. Anyone, however, may use the collections while in the library. Return of Material Borrowers are responsible for returning items by the due date stamped in the book or stated on a recall notice. Overdue books may result in blocked borrowing privileges, fines, or replacement bills. There is a return chute outside the building at the East (campus) entrance for use when the library is closed. Recalls/Holds All books are subject to recall for use by other borrowers. Requests for recalls of charged out items should be made at the Circulation Desk. If you receive a recall notice, please return the book by the date indicated on the notice. Items not received by the new due date may result in blocked borrowing privileges, fines, or replacement bills. Reserves Course Reserves may be requested at the Circulation Desk. Permanent Reserves, located beside the Circulation Desk, may be borrowed for 2 hours, 1 day, or 7 days depending on the book. Searches If a book is neither on the shelf, nor showing as "checked out" on Pathfinder, please request assistance at the Circulation Desk. Circulation staff can conduct a trace or search for items which you have been unable to locate. You will be notified of the results of the search. Renewals and Inventory Unless recalled by another borrower, most materials may be renewed for the same period of time as the original charge. Renewals may be initiated by patron on Pathfinder or by phone. Inventories are
available only on GLADIS, the command-line telnet version of the UC
Berkeley library catalog (not on Pathfinder, the web version).
