The Earth Sciences and Map Library has online access to thoussands of geosciences, geography, science, and technology books, many of which are full-text searchable. Green dot E-books

Dissertations and Theses UCB Only
Provides access to the full text of all dissertations from UC since 1997 (many issued in late 1996 are also available). The first twenty-four pages from all other dissertations for which images exist online are also available. Also included, with more than 1.5 million entries, is the Dissertation Abstracts International (DAI) database, the authoritative source for information about doctoral dissertations.

ebrary UCB Only
A database of more than 37,000 complete e-books covering key subject areas including: cartography, earth and planetary sciences, geography, geology, and geosciences. Requires users to install a plugin to view full text books.

eHRAF World Cultures UCB Only
Indexes mostly primary source material on cultures or societies representing all major areas of the world. Includes many rare sources as well as English translations of foreign texts.

A collection of handbooks in the environmental sciences.

Google Book Search
Searches the full text of books on many subjects, including some from the University of California libraries. The full text of a book can be displayed only if the book is out of copyright (generally, published before 1923) or if the copyright holder has given permission. Entries include links to "Find this book in a library."

Knovel UCB Only
Collection of over 800 scientific and engineeringreference handbooks, texts, and databases. Can be searched by topic across the aggregated set, or users can browse the content of a specific title. Advanced features include numerical range searching and interactive graphs and tables. Subject areas include:

Treatise on Geochemistry UCB Only
Corresponds to the nine-volume print work of the same title. Includes sections on: meteorites, comets, and planets; the mantle and core; the crust; the atmosphere; surface and ground water, weathering, and soils; the oceans and marine geochemistry; sediments, diagenesis, and sedimentary rocks; biogeochemistr; and environmental geochemistry.

Treatise on Geophysics UCB Only
Corresponds to the 11-volume print work of the same title. Includes sections on : seismology, mineral physics, geodesy, geomagnetism; core, mantel, crustal, and lithosphere dynamics; evolution of the earth, planets and the moon.

University of California Press (EBooks Collection 1982-2004) UCB Only
1400 online titles from the University of California Press covering a wide range of subjects. About 30% of the UC Press books, both in print and out-of-print are represented in this collection. Click on By Subject, for a title list by subject. Note that titles are viewable online but cannot be downloaded.

USGS Water Resources Reports
Includes circulars, digital data series, fact sheets, investigation reports and other papers on the topic of water resources published by the US Geological Survey.

World Bank e-Library

Includes more than 1,200 full-text World Bank publications. Topics covered include: economics and finance, public policy, education, international development, technology, poverty, gender, the environment, and more.

Science Citation Index Expanded is a multidisciplinary index to the journal literature of the sciences. It fully indexes over 6,650 major journals across 150 scientific disciplines.

Geography UCB Only
Indexes over 2000 journals, monographs, books, conference proceedings, and theses covering the international literature in physical and human geography, as well as international development issues.

International Tables for Crystallography UCB Only
The series comprises articles and tables of data relevant to crystallographic research and to applications of crystallographic methods in all sciences concerned with the structure and properties of materials. Emphasis is given to symmetry, diffraction methods and techniques of crystal structure determination, and the physical and chemical properties of crystals. Each volume also contains discussions of theory, practical explanations and examples, all of which are useful for teaching.
