Formally organized in 1994, the Guangzhou Ballet has already produced over a dozen accomplished programs embracing both Western classics and original ballets based on Chinese themes.

The company has participated in memorable collaborations with the Chinese National Opera; performed before cheering audiences in Cuba, Spain, France, Germany, Australia, and Canada; and won awards from Paris, Moscow, and Helsinki international dance competitions.

The ensemble’s full-length production, inspired by the life of Mei Lanfang, has been praised internationally for its elaborate sets and costumes as well as its captivating score by Liu Tingyu and the innovative choreography of Fu Xingbang and artistic director Zhang Dandan.
