Scope of Collection
Doe (Main Stacks) houses a research-level collection in sociology, primarily HM (general/theoretical sociology), HN (social history, social reform); HQ (aging/aged [selective], family/marriage, sex and sexuality-exclude gender/women's studies), HS (societies/clubs-marginally collected), HT (urban/rural sociology, social classes, race/race relations, exclude urban planning), HV (social problems such as criminology/criminal justice, drug/alcohol abuse, etc. [selective]-exclude social/public welfare and social services), HX (socialism, communism, anarchism).

The collection primarily serves the Sociology Department. It also serves faculty and students in other social sciences departments in Letters and Sciences, , professional schools such as Graduate School of Education and School of Social Welfare, and researchers and scholars in organized research units such as International and Area Studies, Institute of Governmental Studies, Institute for Institute for Reasearch on Labor and Employment.

Primary Languages and Formats
English is primary language; acquire resources published in US/Commonwealth countries.
