Open Content Alliance

The University of California is a founding member of the Open Content Alliance. A scanning center at UC's Northern Regional Library Facility has been operational since April 2006. By definition, this project scans books in the public domain and those for which UC Regents hold the copyright.

37,324 books are live as of Februrary 1, 2007. Subjects include history literature and biography in western americana; juvenile literature; cookbooks and home economics; oral histories; and sciences.
