Scope of Collection
The collection is selected to serve the Graduate School of Journalism and undergrad major in Media Studies. The Doe Library/Gardner Main Stacks collection in journalism supports research in that subject and related fields such as media studies, literature, history, and sociology, and can be of interest to students of new information systems. Primarily about journalists and the practice of journalism; current emphasis on changes brought by new media (in consultation with selectors for Media Studies and Information Studies).

Collection Strengths
The collection's strengths are in personal narratives by journalists and books about journalism history, with selective addition of titles about aspects of contemporary journalism's writing and production. The library also provides access to databases indexing articles about journalism, and others supplying fulltext news content.

Primary Languages and Formats
English, primarily from USA/Commonwealth countries.
