GSI Course Reserves Checklist
Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Library Course Reserves:
- Deliver material directly to the Chemistry
and Chemical Engineering Library Circulation Desk. At the time
of delivery, sign the list kept at the Circulation Desk, giving your name,
office phone number, and number of copies being placed on course reserve.
- Submit material labeled and in folders (no ring binders) with
Instructor's name, course number, and copy number.
- We recommend one set of material for every ten students.
- Each time you add material, sign our log.
- Each time you add material be sure it is ready to insert.
That means hole punched, in order, stapled, and labeled with class, instructor
and copy number. Bring material to add early in the morning so a
maximum number of the library copies are not checked out. You will
add the material to all the copies that are not checked out. Library
staff will add the material to other copies as they are returned.
- Direct your class reserve questions to Agnes
Concepcion (aconcepc@library.berkeley.edu) or call 3-4477. Check
with Agnes at least every two weeks to see if any material is missing from
folders. The students often remove material so it must be replenished.
- Please don't tell the class that your material is on reserve
before you have actually brought the material to the library and given
library staff time to make it available.
- Impress upon students the importance of returning material
on time.
- Pick up course reserve material within two weeks after the
end of the semester. After two weeks, material is discarded.
- Consider using bSpace to house your electronic reserves. To place electronic course materials in bSpace, you must first create a site for the course in question. Learn how to do this from an online tutorial or attend an Educational Technology Services workshop for in-person help. All UC Berkeley instructors and students have existing bSpace accounts.
