Faculty Course Reserves
Use this online form to request that library material be placed on course reserve at the Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Library. You may also fax your course reserve list to 643-9041 or send by email to the Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Library. The library accommodates upper division undergraduate and graduate courses; unfortunately we do not have the space to accept reserves for large enrollment lower division courses. Questions about course reserves should be directed to the Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Library.
If you are providing your own material to be placed on course reserve:
- Homework solutions or problem sets should be brought directly to the Circulation Desk. At the time of delivery, the Instructor or GSI will be asked to sign in on the list kept at the Circulation Desk, giving his or her name, office phone number, and number of copies being placed on course reserve.
- Each set of homework solutions or problem sets must come in its own "Acco-style" binder. (No binders with rings, please). Supply one set for every ten students. The name of the Instructor, course number, and course title should appear on the cover of each folder.
- The Instructor or GSI is responsible for adding new pages to the homework solutions or problem sets. The best time of day to do this is between 8:00 AM-9:00 AM before the Circulation Desk opens.
- The course GSI or other contact person should check with library staff at least once every two weeks to find out if there is any need for updating the homework solutions with replacement pages, and to exchange general information related to course reserves usage.
Note: the copyright law of the United States governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. In accepting photocopies for reserves the UC Berkeley Library assumes that the copy or copies have been made in compliance with the fair use provisions of section 107. The UC Copyright Education web site and the Association of Research Libraries' Know your Copy Rights pamphlet are good resources for answers to commonly asked copyright questions.
