Books

Use the OskiCat catalog to search for books. The following subject headings are useful: international business enterprises, economic development, intercultural communication, export marketing, globalization, international trade, etc. You may also simply search under the name of the country of interest. Enter the heading in the subject search box and restrict the search to the Long Library by choosing BUSI from the location menu. E-books may be located and used online through Ebrary.

Business Source Complete Indexes thousands of business journals and magazines. Use the subject search box to look for articles on the subject of your paper. Company names should be searched using the "company entity" box. Full text is available for many of the articles.
Business & Industry Database Indexes, abstracts, and provides partial full-text coverage of almost 1000 major U.S. and international trade journals, general business publications, and national & regional newspapers and newsletters.
The Economist Read the full text of the weekly Economist using this link.
Factiva A full text database of magazines and newspapers, including Business Week, Economist, Forbes, Fortune, Wall Street Journal, etc. Very useful for current information on business topics, company activities, and developments in U.S. and international industries.
The Financial Times Access this leading UK daily financial paper through NewsBank.
Lexis-Nexis Academic A very user-friendly search tool for finding articles in magazines and newspapers, and company profiles and financials.

Articles in Global Newspapers and Wire Services

Factiva Includes many newspapers in English and international languages
ISI Emerging Markets For over 70 countries, provides the full text of newspaper and wire service stories.
Newbank's Access World News Scroll down to the Access World News section, click on "The World" for the full text of over 2,000 global newspapers.
World News Connection Provides current news from countries around the world. Updated daily. The database may be searched by keywords, region, country, or city names.

Country Profiles and Economic Data

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Country Profiles and Reports Objective and timely analysis and forecasts of the political, economic and business environment in more than 180 countries. Annual profiles are updated by quarterly reports.
Europa World Online Provides political and economic information for more than 250 countries and territories.
Mergent Country Profiles On the Mergent Online entry page, use the "Country Profile" search box in the lower right corner.

International Industry and Market Information

Business Monitor Online (BMO) BMO provides quarterly, up-dated market forecast reports on 14 industry sectors in 55 countries. Industries covered include: Automotives, Chemicals, Banking, Defence and Security, Retail Food and Drink, Freight Transport, IT, Infrastructure, Insurance, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Telecommunications and Media, and Tourism. There is also a database of 65,000 multinational company subsidiaries and company profiles.
ISI Emerging Markets Choose the country of interest and then click on the "Industries" button for a list of Industries with links to reports.
Mintel Reports Mintel provides the full text of market research reports for the U.S. and Europe. Please be sure to comply with Mintel's license agreement.

Mergent Online Provides comprehensive financial information for public companies.
OneSource Use your Haas personal login. Search for business news, create lists of companies in countries, get company profiles and names of executives, etc.

Country Data Sources

Global Development Finance Provides development finance data for 136 countries since 1970. Data may be exported for spreadsheets.
Global Financial Database (GFD) The Global Financial Database contains extremely long runs of historical data (over 6,000 series) on security markets and macroeconomic trends for over 150 countries, including the United States.
International Financial Statistics Financial, trade, and national accounts statistics by country. Historical data is available back to 1948 and is reported in various time frequencies, including monthly and annual statistics.
United Nations Statistical Databases (UNdata) Provides 442 economic, social, cultural, and demographic series indicators for countries of the world. Some data therein reaches back to the 1940s, most are current through 2000, and some projections reach to 2050.
World Development Indicators Provides time series development indicators data (1960-present) for 207 countries. Includes tables for population, labor and employment, education, health, energy, urbanization, national accounts, purchasing power, trade, government finance, monetary, balance of payments, external debt, investment risk, taxes, prices and exchange rates, military expenditures, transport and communication, and information & technology. Data may be exported for spreadsheets
