MBA 222.1 Financial Information Analysis

The following online and print resources provided by the Long Business Library are key to finding information required for this course. Use the Library proxy Server to access the electronic resources from off-campus.

Books

Use the OskiCat catalog to search for books. Business enterprises -- valuation and financial statements are two relevant subject headings. Choose the subject search box and restrict the search to the Long Library by choosing Business and Economics Library from the location menu. E-books may be located and used online through Ebrary.

Company Financial Disclosure Databases

Compustat
Accessible only from Haas.
Compustat allows users to download Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow data items on US and foreign public companies. The following Compustat products are not available to Haas users: executive compensation, global currency, global financial services, global industrial/commercial, global issue, and quarterly updates. Access via WRDS.
Factiva News aggregator Factiva also includes public company financial statements. To access, click on the Companies/Markets link at the top of the page, then click Company on the subsequent page. Enter a company name or ticker to access a report.
Lexis Nexis Academic Click on the Business tab to search for a Company Dossier that includes financial disclosures.
Mergent Online Mergent is a terrific source for public company financials and SEC documents. Income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements can be downloaded directly into MS Excel. Data goes back 15 years.
OneSource
Accessible only from Haas.
OneSource profiles companies, industries, and executives and allows screening by industry, region, company size, company sales, and more. It is a one-stop resource with lots of extras, including SEC documents, analyst reports, and market research reports.

Company Annual Reports

SourceDescription
Historical Annual Reports Collection This is a repository of annual reports for over 800 U.S. companies, some going back to 1884. The scans generally not great, so we recommend Mergent (below) for annual reports from 1996 on.
Mergent Online Mergent contains SEC Filings and image file annual reports from 1996-present.

Analyst Reports

Thomson ONE Analyst reports from investment banks via Thomson ONE.
Choose "Screening & Analysis -> Research" on the left sidebar.
Must be accessed using Internet Explorer.
