Course Reserve Information for Instructors

Requesting or Providing Library Books or Photocopied Materials for Reserve: Please read the instructions below and complete the Online Course Information Form.

Proceed to the Bioscience Library Course Reserves Form.  Reserve requests should be submitted as soon as possible to allow adequate time for processing. Reserve requests received 1 month before the semester begins will have highest priority.

Important note if you are providing your own 
materials to be placed on reserve:

• When placing articles, lecture notes, and other loose material on reserve, instructors must provide enough clean manila folders for all copies of the article(s) or groups of articles to be circulated.


• Include a course syllabus so that we may list the articles on Gladis in the order in which students are to read them.
   
• Provide a minimum of five copies for classes of 100. The general rule we follow is 1 copy for every 20 students.

 
• Indicate your preferred circulation period for each reserve item, either two hours or one day.
   
• Please include the name and telephone number of a person we may contact if there are questions or problems with the materials. 
   
• Please be advised that we cannot promise immediate processing of reserves. Please allow at least 48 hours for processing.

The Bioscience and Natural Resources Library accommodates upper division undergraduate and graduate courses. We do not accept reserves for lower division courses. If you have any questions about placing materials on course reserve, or if you wish to check the status of your course reserve list, please contact Ken Fisher at 642-2030.

The Copyright Law of the United States governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. In accepting photocopies for reserves the UC Berkeley Library assumes that the copy or copies have been made in compliance with the fair use provisions of section 107.
