Interlibrary Borrowing
UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students may request items found through Melvyl or NextGen Melvyl. Material that is already owned at Berkeley is not eligible for this free service.
- In NextGen Melvyl, use the Request it link found within the UC-eLinks menu.
- In Melvyl, use the Request button found on your results page.

If you can't locate the item you are looking for in a catalog, you may submit a request electronically using a form on the Interlibrary Borrowing website or you may request it in person at the Bioscience Library reference desk (2101 VLSB) or the Interlibrary Borrowing office (133 Doe Library).
Interlibrary borrowing is not available for patrons not affiliated with UC Berkeley. Please contact your local public library or academic library that you are affiliated with to request materials.
NRLF: Northern Regional Library Facility (offsite storage)
- UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students can request material stored at NRLF through OskiCat (requires log-on) or Melvyl.

Expedited Article Requests
- Expedited article service is available for journal articles not available at UCB for faculty, staff, and graduate students in the Departments of Integrative Biology
and Molecular and Cell Biology and the College of Natural Resources.
- Expedited article service is available for urgent requests only (upcoming publishing
deadline, etc.).
- Fill out the Expedited Article Request
Form or contact a librarian at the Bioscience Library Reference Desk.
- Requested documents will be available at the Bioscience Library Circulation
Desk in 1-3 days on average.
