The Morrison Library is a beautiful and comfortable room for recreational reading and browsing. The shelves of the Morrison house a 1,500 volume collection of current fiction and non-fiction books which may be checked out, a 10,000 volume non-circulating collection, books on tape, a large contemporary poetry collection, travel guides, magazines, and foreign and domestic newspapers of general interest. Newspapers & Microforms contains the Library's principal collections of newspapers (over 200 active newsprint subscriptions, and over 900 titles archived on microfilm), and microforms (microfilm, microfiche, and micro-opaque formats that include 950,000 books, manuscripts, documents, and serials of significant academic and journalistic value).

The Northern Regional Library Facility (NRLF) is a cooperative library storage facility. It is owned and operated by the University of California and is located on the grounds of UC Berkeley's Richmond Field Station. The 98,000 square foot main building was completed in 1982; an 84,000 square foot stack annex was completed in 1990; and a 67,000 square foot storage module, as well as a new reading room were added in 2005. The Facility offers high density, low cost housing for infrequently used library materials belonging to northern California libraries. At this time, depositors to NRLF are libraries on the University's Berkeley, Davis, Merced, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz campuses, and the California State Library.

The C.V. Starr East Asian Library contains one of the most comprehensive collections of materials in East Asian Languages in the United States. The Flora Lamson Hewlett Library of the Graduate Theological Union, combined with its branch library at San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) in San Anselmo, is one of the largest theology and religion collections in the United States. The GTU Archives and Special Collections program provides primary research materials on religion in the West and Pacific Rim, with interest in ecumenism, inter-religious activity, various denominational traditions, ethnic plurality, women in religion, gays/lesbians in religion, and new religious movements.

The Institute of Transportation Studies Library houses one of the largest transportation collections in the United States. It is multi-modal with an emphasis on aviation, highways, mass transportation, traffic engineering and advanced systems. The Garret W. McEnerney Law Library serves the legal research needs of its primary clientele (UC Berkeley law students and law faculty) and also seeks to meet the needs of UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff, judges and attorneys, and the general public. The Law Library's collection covers all aspects of U.S. law, with particular emphasis on intellectual property law, environmental law and constitutional law. Holdings include U.S. court decisions, statutes, legal treatises and monographs and legal periodicals. The Law Library also has a vast collection of law from law many countries around the world, with a strong emphasis on civil law jurisdictions. In addition, the Law Library specializes in international and human rights law, treaty law and comparative law. The collection also includes documentation from many international organizations, including the United Nations, the European Union, and the International Court of Justice.
