New Chancellor's Library Visit

Chancellor Robert Birgeneau pauses on a tour with Charles Faulhaber, Mike Rancer, and Patty Iannuzzi. On January 7 the Chancellor saw the surge preparation in his home library (Physics) in Doe Core and in the Bancroft. He stepped around painters, electricians, and carpenters completing the renovation of the Brown Gallery and the Great Rooms of Doe.

Call for Nominations
Distinguished Librarian Award 2005

The 2004/2005 Distinguished Librarian Award program sponsored by LAUC-B is now underway. Committee members are: Chair, Allan Urbanic (Area Studies), Bette Anton (Optometry Library and previous award recipient), Linda Vida (Water Resources Library), and Armanda Barone (Assistant Head, Technical Services Department). A Faculty Representative will be appointed to the Committee in the near future.

The award recognizes excellence in librarianship, specifically as it furthers the teaching and research missions of the Berkeley campus. For guidelines, including a description of the nomination and documentation process, please see the LAUC-B web site.

Campus librarians, faculty, staff or students may nominate Berkeley librarians who have given exceptional service to the profession and the campus. The deadline to submit an intention to nominate someone is April 15; full documentation must be submitted by May 15. Please send nominations to Allan Urbanic, Doe Library, Rm. 438, #6000.
