Librarian in Print

Deborah Sommer's article "Finding Planning Information on the Internet" is featured as the lead article in the Fall 1995 issue of InfoTEXT, a publication of the Information Technology Division of the American Planning Association.  Developed from a paper she presented at the 1995 Annual Conference of the Council of Planning Librarians, the article focuses on electronic discussion lists and gophers.  A second article will highlight World Wide Web resources for city and regional planning.

Incident Report Forms Now Available Online - Test Mode

The Library Security Council has developed a web Incident Report Form for units to use in reporting incidents.  The form can be found on the Staff homepage.

The contents of this form will be sent directly and swiftly to the Librarian's Office and also to all members of the Security Council for review.  Your unit head will receive a copy back via email as confirmation of receipt.

The Library Security Council's review of Incident Report Forms will allow us to identify any patterns of behavior that should be investigated further and acted upon.  The Library Security Council will also take responsibility for getting information out to allusers in those cases where it seems appropriate.

NOTE: We're currently strengthening The Library's working relationship with the UC Police Department.  UCPD tells us that police are allocated to buildings based on the number of incidents in that building, and they count incidents by the number of official police reports which are filed.  If you call the police, please always request that they file a report.  Ask for the responding officer's name, and the case number which s/he will assign.  There are blanks on the Incident Report Form for you to supply this information.

This form will eventually become part of the "In an Emergency" section of the Public Service Manual and The Library Orientation Manual.  While in test mode, however, you will have to "go to" the address shown above.

Please let me know your suggestions about how to improve the Incident Report Form.

Library Security Council
