Kent G. Lightfoot The Archaeology and Ethnohistory of Fort Ross, California Berkeley, Archaeological Research Facility, University of California at Berkeley, 1991.
"Like other early colonial settlements, the colony at Ross has inherent interest as a multiethnic entrepot where people of widely differing cultural traditions came into contact and were transformed. This volume focuses on one of several distinct neighborhoods within the Ross Colony, a pluralistic mercantile commhnity comprising Russians, Nativa Alaskans, Native Hawaiians, Native Californians and Creoles."
