BIOSIS 1926 - present
BIOSIS is the online version of Biological Abstracts and Biological Abstracts/RRM, the most comprehensive biological sciences database. Biosis indexes 6,000 international journals and contains references to articles, books, and conference proceedings on a wide variety of biological and biomedical topics.

PubMed 1947 - present (UCB PubMed URL Information)
PubMed is our primary mode of access to MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine's premier bibliographic database, containing bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 5,200 biomedical journals. Coverage is worldwide and updated weekly. PubMed also provides access and links to NCBI's integrated molecular biology databases including nucleotide sequences, protein sequences, 3-D protein structure data, population study data sets, and assemblies of complete genomes in an integrated system.

Academic Search Complete 1865-present
Multidisciplinary source for scholarly journal and popular magazine articles; indexes and abstracts articles from more than 10,400 English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Portuguese sources. Full text is available for over 5990 titles.

AGRICOLA 1970 - present
Covers books and journal articles, with many state agricultural and USDA publications being added from the early 1900's. Subjects include agriculture, agricultural economics, animal science, entomology, horticulture, nutrition, plant diseases, and soil science. Lists all the holdings at the National Agricultural Library, including audiovisual materials.

Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Abstracts 1978 - present
An international database on all aspects of marine, freshwater and brackish environments. Subjects include biology, ecology, fisheries, aquaculture, oceanography, and limnology. Citations come from journals, reports, monographs, dissertations, grey literature and conference proceedings.

CAB Abstracts 1910 - present
Indexes books, journals, conference proceedings, reports and other sources from the agricultural literature and from more than 100 countries. Covers topics such as biodiversity, biotechnology, pest control, environmental pollution, animal science, nutrition and food technology, crop production, natural resources, forestry, environmental policy, and rural development. A new archive of literature from 1910-1972 has just been added, combining 17 printed abstracts into a single database. (The material previously accessible through TREECD is included in the CAB Abstracts Archive.)

Dissertations & Theses 1861 - present
Provides access to the full text of all dissertations from UC since 1997 (many issued in late 1996 are also available). The first twenty-four pages from all other dissertations for which images exist online are also available. Also included, with more than 1.5 million entries (dating back to 1861), is the Dissertation Abstracts International (DAI) database, the authoritative source for information about doctoral dissertations. It is possible to search this database by thesis advisor!

Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management Databases 1981 - present
A multidisciplinary database covering ecology, agricultural biotechnology, energy, climate, pollution, toxicology, waste management, water resources, and other environmental issues. Coverage includes citations and abstracts from 1500 scientific journals, conference proceedings, books, reports, and governmental publications.

Faculty of 1000
The Faculty of 1000 describes itself as a "next generation literature awareness tool... that will comprehensively and systematically highlight and review the most interesting papers published in the biological sciences, based on the recommendations of a faculty of well over 1000 selected leading researchers." The papers are in one or more of five categories (Novel finding, Technical advance, Interesting hypothesis, Important confirmation or Controversial findings) and are labeled as 'recommended, 'must read' or 'exceptional'. Thirty-two Faculty of 1000 members are from UC Berkeley or LBNL. You can browse papers within a field, such as biochemistry, cell biology, genomics & genetics, molecular biology and plant biology, or search across all fields. UC e-Links is enabled for full text access when available.

GeoRef 1693 - present
GeoRef contains citations for over 3,500 journals plus numerous conference papers, theses, and other publications in the fields of geology and geophysics. The database is produced by the American Geological Institute. Citations cover the years 1693-present for geology of North America and the years 1933-present for geology of other areas. This is an excellent resource for paleontology literature.

The History of Science, Technology, and Medicine database contains citations from journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations in the history of science, the history of technology, and allied historical fields in a variety of languages. Subjects covered include agriculture, biology, construction, chemistry, energy, engineering, geology, linguistics, mathematics, medicine, music, philosophy, physics, social sciences, town planning, transport engineering, and zoology.

LEXIS-NEXIS Dates vary
LEXIS-NEXIS contains full text and abstracts of news, business, and legal information and provides full-text access to nearly 6,000 individual titles. Users can search foreign and domestic newspapers and wire services; radio and television transcripts; and business, industry, and legislative magazines, journals, and newsletters.

Natural Standard
Natural Standard is an international research collaboration that aggregates and synthesizes data on complementary and alternative medical therapies, such as herbs and dietary supplements. Information presented is evidence-based, consensus-based, and peer-reviewed. Natural Standard is a full-text source, and contains additional references to the primary literature.

Oceanic Abstracts 1981 - present
Indexes worldwide technical literature pertaining to the marine and brackish-water environment. A leading source of information on topics relating to the oceans, marine biology, physical oceanography, fisheries, aquaculture, non-living resources, meteorology and geology, as well as environmental, technological, and legislative topics.

Web of Science (Science Citation Index) 1900 - present
Web of Science includes Science Citation Expanded Index, a database of bibliographic information indexed so that you can search for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. Cited reference searching, unique to ISI, lets you use a given work as if it were a subject term to identify more recent articles on the same topic. It is also possible to find articles related to an article because they share common citations. The database indexes 5,300 major scientific journals in all areas of science, covering approximately 2,000 more journals than the SCI print version.

Wildlife & Ecology Studies Worldwide 1935 - present
Coverage of literature on mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Partial coverage from 1935-1970 and full coverage from 1971 to date, derived from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Biological Survey, and the National University of Costa Rica. Includes wildlife behavior, wetlands, economics and management.

Zoological Record 1864 - present
Covers about 4,500 international scientific journals plus books, meetings, conferences, reviews, and electronic documents. Comprehensive coverage of literature in all aspects of zoology, including systematics, ecology, behavior, evolution and conservation. Access is by author, subject, geographic area and taxa, with a thesaurus of about 10,000 terms arranged in 80 hierarchies. Includes abstracts.
