Moffitt Library — among the most popular libraries on the UC Berkeley campus — will remain open this summer and fall.
The library’s renovation, originally planned to begin this summer, will now start after fall finals.
The library is scheduled to close starting Dec. 20 and reopen at the beginning of fall semester 2026.
During Moffitt’s closure, the library’s lower three floors will undergo a bold renovation, opening up hundreds of spaces where students can work, learn, and connect with one another. The project will usher into reality the vision for the Center for Connected Learning, a hub for innovation, creativity, and collaboration in the 21st century.
The renovation is made possible with the generous support of donors, including a recently announced capstone gift by Nadine Tang M.S.W. ’75. Tang’s gift was made as a tribute to her friendship with Chancellor Carol T. Christ. A sign honoring Christ will grace Moffitt’s third-floor interior entrance.
